UAE retailer launched a closed-box white-label electronics line in 9 weeks

United Arab Emirates · Consumer Electronics · 2025

The Challenge

Rashid runs a 4-store consumer-electronics chain in Dubai and Sharjah, plus an Amazon.ae storefront. His best margins came from no-name accessories — wireless earbuds, fast chargers, USB-C hubs — but his customers were starting to compare prices against unbranded Chinese boxes on Amazon Global. Margin was eroding fast.

He needed to move from "reseller of generic boxes" to "owner of a recognisable house-brand line" — without:

  • Investing in a 5,000-unit MOQ per SKU (cash-flow death)
  • Exposing his supplier identity (which was already being shopped by two of his ex-employees)
  • Doing the brand-design / packaging artwork himself

Approach

Our team built a closed-box white-label flow with three guarantees:

  1. Supplier identity shielded. Rashid never sees the factory name or address. The goods ship under our consolidation label; the inner box carries his brand only. His ex-employees can't replicate the supply chain.
  2. Low-MOQ branded packaging: We negotiated 500-unit MOQs across 4 SKUs (earbuds, charger, hub, cable) by combining his run with two other clients' generic runs at the same factory. Custom box, custom inner-tray, custom QR-coded warranty card — all included.
  3. 9-week launch sprint: Week 1-2 design, week 3 sample approval, week 4-7 production, week 8 ocean freight to Jebel Ali, week 9 retail-shelf-ready inventory.

Results

  • Launch SKUs: 4 (TWS earbuds, 65W charger, 7-in-1 USB-C hub, braided USB-C cable)
  • Initial PO: 2,000 total units (500 × 4 SKUs)
  • Landed cost vs. branded competitor (Anker): ~62% lower per equivalent SKU
  • Retail margin: 18% (generic resale) → 47% (own-brand)
  • First-order sell-through: 78% in 11 weeks; reorder placed at 1.5x volume
  • Supplier identity exposure: 0 (verified — Rashid's competitors searched and could not source the same packaging)

Rashid is now planning a smart-home extension (smart plug, motion sensor) under the same brand, leveraging the same MOQ-pooling and closed-box model.
